Galatasaray manager Hamza Hamzaoğlu stated that Beşiktaş played the better football in the Istanbul derby but that winning is all that counts.
The Lions beat Beşiktaş 2-0 at the Türk Telekom Arena to move one step closer towards ensuring the league title.
“To be honest Beşiktaş played the better football but we kept to our game plan and took our chances, winning is all that matters at this stage,” Hamzaoğlu told Lig Tv after the game.
Galatasaray will win the league title for the 20th time and and earn the right to wear a fourth star with a draw against Rizespor on the final day of the season.
Hamzaoğlu replaced former Italian national team manager Cesare Prandelli as Galatasaray head coach in November under current president Duygun Yarsuvat.
The former Turkish national team assistant manager will win his first Süper Lig title as a manager if the Lions win the championship.
Hamzaoğlu is expected to stay on as head coach next season despite Yarsuvat being replaced by Dursun Özbek in the recent Galatasaray elections.
