Yılmaz was a doubt before the game after missing the Lions last two matches due to injury.

Hamzaoğlu decided to start the Turkish international against Konyaspor and the prolific striker repaid his manager with a goal inside the first 10 minutes.

“Burak performed well, he scored his goal and worked hard for the team, I took him off after 55 minutes because he still needs match fitness,” Hamzaoğlu told reporters in his post-match press conference after the game.

Yılmaz now has 14 goals in all competitions this season. The 29-year-olds goal against Konyaspor was his first in the Turkish Cup this season.

The Turkish international has 11 Süper Lig goals, only Trabzonspor striker Oscar Cardozo (12) and Bursaspor forward Fernandao (13) has scored more this season.

Yılmaz is expected to start for the Lions on the weekend against Balıkesirspor in the Süper Lig.

The Lions could move into first place if they beat last placed Balıkesirspor and if Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe both lose.
