The Germany international Emre Can has stated that he joined Liverpool with the intention of winning trophies.

The 22-year-old has been included in todays starting line-up which takes on Manchester City in the League Cup final.

“I came to Liverpool to win trophies. Liverpool is the same [as Bayern]. Both are big clubs and they want to win titles and that is what I want here as I wanted at Bayern Munich,” Can was quoted as saying by Eurosport.

“It is very important for us to win a trophy. We are such a young team so to get that feeling you can win trophies we can then say we are in the right way.”

Can was in the side which lost to Aston Villa at Wembley last season after throwing away a first-half lead. The defeat left a bitter taste for the Germany international and he intends to make amends second time around.

If Liverpool win on today it will be their first piece of silverware since they won the League cup back in 2012.
