Image: Euro 2016 semi-finalist returns to Arsenal training ahead of Liverpool clash

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil was pictured training ahead of the Liverpool clash on Sunday and is expected to feature in the opening Premier League game of the 2016-17 campaign.

Ozil was a doubt for the clash at the Emirates after head coach Arsene Wenger revealed his star man would not be ready for the game following the friendly against Viking.

Wenger did however, name Ozil in the provisional squad and he did engage in team training today continuing efforts to gain match fitness going into the weekend game.

Ozil was given an extended break after reaching the Euro 2016 semi-finals with Germany before being knocked out by the hosts France.

The Germany international of Turkish origin finished last season as having the most assists in the Premier League – 18.
