Inter Milan are closing in on a €2.2 million deal for Fenerbahce star Caner Erkin according to NTV Spor pundit Ridvan Dilmen.

The former Fenerbahce star revealed that Inter were on the verge of signing the Turkish international full-back on a free transfer.

Erkin’s agent Batur Altiparmak has played down all previous reports regarding a move to Inter but he has yet to comment on the latest link.

“Recently, there were some rumours Erkin had already signed a deal with Inter, but I don’t know anything about that at the moment,” Altiparmak told Turkish-football.com.

“I listen to all the teams who want to discuss a move. I work like that but I don’t finalise or talk publicly about anything without informing the club first.

Inter could however, face competition from the Premier League according to the Express who claim that Liverpool and Everton are also in the race.

The Turkish international star has attracted interest from across Europe and could be available on a free-transfer in the summer if the Istanbul giants fail to sign a contract extension deal.

Erkin fell out with Fenerbahce head coach going into the Intercontinental derby against rivals Galatasaray and was subsequently dropped. The fiery left-back is expected to leave the club at the end of the season following the latest rift with the manager.
