Jordan Henderson 'deserves' to be Liverpool captain says Emre Can

Jordan Henderson deserves to be Liverpool captain according to Emre Can.

The 21-year-old stated that he has a lot to learn from Henderson and that the Liverpool midfielder inspired his teammates with confidence.

“You should never give up and you can see that Jordan has never given up,” Can was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

“He has had the confidence shown in him and it’s great that he has been able to captain the team.”

Can also underlined that Henderson puts in a lot of work training and developing his skills.

“He has got a lot of qualities and you can see that on the training ground every day, as well as every game. He’s deserved to be the captain,” he added.

“I can learn a lot from him – I am a couple of years younger than Jordan. He gives 100 per cent all the time and he works hard on his own game. He is full of confidence and never gives up. He is always there for the team, both on and off the pitch.”

Henderson extended his Liverpool deal to 2020 this week and is expected to replace outgoing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard next season.

The 24-year-old joined the Reds on a £16m move from Sunderland in 2011.
