Kazakh & Russian investors linked with Galatasaray takeover [divider]
Kazakh and Russian investors are in competition over a potential investment in Galatasaray according to football pundit Ümit Karan.
“There will be a board meeting in January discussing the financial situation of the club,” Karan said speaking to Habertürk.
“They will discuss the possibility of selling the club to the interested Russian and Kazakh investors.”
The large scale foreign investment would be the first of its kind in Turkish football were such a deal to go ahead.
Turkish clubs are currently fan owned, members are elected in presidential elections held every 2-3 years.
Galatasaray are reported to be facing financial difficulties but the club have yet to make any statement regarding the possibility of foreign investment.
The Lions are currently second on goal difference in the Süper Lig and managed by Cesare Prandelli.
Galatasaray claim to have over 20 million fans world wide. The Lions have a huge social media following with over 4 million twitter followers and nearly 13 million Facebook likes.
