Gerrard established himself as an iconic Liverpool player during his years of service for the club and played a key role in the Reds winning the 2005 Champions League title in 2005.

The former Reds star is a role model for Can and there have been calls from some segments of the Liverpool fan base for the 22-year-old to be considered for the captaincy role.

Can has now teamed up with the Liverpool squad who are currently on tour of the US as part of their pre-season build-up.

The Reds will take on Chelsea in the International Champions Cup in the Rose Bowl tomorrow.
