Lambert revealed that Liverpool plan to win the Europa League this season.

“Like I knew we were going to, we’re playing at our best again now. We’re in the Europa League and it’s something that we’ll be trying to win,” Lambert told the Liverpool Echo.

“You come into it at a good stage [the round of 32]. I know it’s not the Champions League, but it’s still a great competition.”

Lambert also underlined the importance of the competition this season. The winner of the Europa League will earn an automatic Champions League spot.

“There is more prestige with a Champions League spot up for grabs. We’re trying to get into the top four, but we’re also desperate to win a trophy,” he added.

Lambert has three goals for Liverpool in 26 appearances in all competitions this season.

The 33-year-old is not expected to play against Beşiktaş but will be included in the squad.

Liverpool secured a place in the Round of 32 after being knocked out of the Champions League group stages in third-place.

The Reds are also competing in the FA Cup and Premier League.
