Liverpool and Fenerbahce are in the race to sign Juventus’ out-of-favour defender Cacares according to Tuttosport (via Express).

Both The Red’s and Yellow Canaries are expected to dip their toes into the January market to add depth to their squads.

Cacares is currently out of favour at Juventus having only made two league appearances this term. However, the Uruguay international would add plenty of experience from playing at a big club having also been on the books of Barcelona.

The 28-year-old defender has 69 caps for the Uruguay national team and can play at right-back, left back and as a central defender.

Fenerbahce are currently in pole position in the Turkish Super Lig with 37 points in 16 games. The Istanbul Giants will end the week in first place if Besiktas drop points against Osmanlispor today.

Liverpool slipped down to ninth place in the Premier League with 24 points in 17 games following a disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hand’s of Watford FC.
