Liverpool & Arsenal given boost as star players return before Premier League opener

Liverpool and Arsenal have both been given a boost after going in their Premier League opener at the Emirates with the return of Emre Can and Mesut Ozil.

Mesut Ozil was expected to miss the clash against Liverpool after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger stated the playmaker would not feature in the game following the friendly against Viking.

Ozil does however, face a race against the clock for match fitness going into the clash.

Arsenal provisional squad: Cech, Ospina, Debuchy, Bellerin, Holding, Chambers, Gibbs, Monreal, Coquelin, Elneny, Xhaka, Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, Iwobi, Sanchez, Campbell, Walcott, Akpom.

Liverpool will also welcome back star midfielder Emre Can who was expected to miss the game due to fitness concerns.

Can only managed to play the first half in the recent friendlies against Roma, Barcelona and Mainz.

The 22-year-old is expected to be match fit despite returning to pre-season training late due to Euro 2016 duties with Germany.
