Liverpool boss Rodgers likens Emre Can to a Rolls Royce after Everton draw

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has praised Emre Can for his performance during the 0-0 Merseyside derby yesterday.

Can was the man of the match according to whoscored.com and received a rating of 8.30. The 21-year-old made five successful tackles, three interceptions and one clearance.

Rodgers likened the Germany U20 international to a Rolls-Royce due to his defensive quality and ability on the ball.

 

“What was pleasing tonight was that in such an intense atmosphere, the composure of my young players,” Rodgers told Liverpool’s official website.

“Look at Emre Can tonight, at 21 years of age he was like a Rolls-Royce at the back; he defended fantastically and his quality on the ball was very, very good.

Can played the full 90 minutes in his 11th start in a row for the Reds.

Liverpool are fifth in the league, drawing on points with forth placed Manchester United who have 43 points in 23 games. The Reds take on Tottenham next week.

Can has made a total of 20 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
