Liverpool defender ends 8-year spell at club, officially completes transfer

Martin Skrtel has officially completed his transfer from Liverpool to Fenerbahce, ending his eight-year association with the Reds in the process.

Fenerbahce confirmed that Skrtel has officially signed for the club on their official website and also stated that the Slovakian international will be unveiled in a signing ceremony tomorrow at 14:00 Local Time.

Skrtel will take part in a signing ceremony in front of Fenerbahce fans at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium.

The 31-year-old defender spent eight years at Liverpool before joining the Istanbul giants over the summer and he will become the third defensive player to join Fenerbahce in the last few weeks along with Gregory van der Wiel from PSG and Schalke 04 defender Neustaedter.

The three defensive recruits will replace Ba, Gokhan Gonul and Bruno Alves who have already parted ways this summer.

The Istanbul giants finished last season as runners-up and lost the Turkish Cup final against Galatasaray.
