Liverpool defender set to join Fenerbahce

Liverpool centre back Martin Skrtel is set to complete his move to Fenerbahce a source close to the Istanbul giants told Turkish-football.com.

The Istanbul Giants have reached an agreement with both the player and Liverpool. Skrtel is expected to put pen-to-paper on a deal with Fenerbahce in the coming days and will begin pre-season training with his new club next week.

Fenerbahce have already parted ways with defenders Ba and Bruno Alves over the summer and have made strengthening their defence a priority.

The Yellow Canaries signed Schalke 04 defender Roman Neustadter and PSG’s Gregory van der Wiel recently.

Skrtel will join Denmark international Simon Kjaer at centre-back when he completes his move to Fenerbahce.

The Slovakian international defender joined Liverpool from Russian giants Zenit for £7.5 million in 2007 and went onto make 320 appearances for the Reds.
