Liverpool & Everton in talks with Turkish international left-back

Liverpool and Everton are both interested in Fenerbahce left-back Caner Erkin according to Mundo Deportivo.

Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik meanwhile claim that the Reds and the Toffees are actually in talks with he Turkish international.

Erkin’s agent Batur Altiparmak however, told Turkish-football.com: “There have been enquiries from 5-6 teams but I have not mentioned names of any clubs and no agreements have been reached either.”

The Fenerbahce star has just six-months remaining on his contract and has yet to sign a new deal with Fenerbahce. Liverpool and Everton could sign the 27-year-old as a free agent over the summer transfer window.

The experienced full-back is expected to feature as Turkey’s first-choice left-back at the European Championships this summer.

The Reds and Toffees could face competitions from Inter Milan. The 26-year-old was rumoured to have struck a £4.2 million pre-agreement deal with Inter according to the Express which his agent later dismissed.

Erkin starred in the 2-1 Turkish national team victory over Sweden at the Antalya stadium yesterday and is expected to feature again against Austria in four days time.
