Liverpool’s legendary defender Alan Hansen has heaped praise on Emre Can and has likened him to Mark Lawrenson and Stevie Nicol.
The former Match of the Day pundit commented on Emre Can’s progress during an interview with the ‘This is Anfield’ website.
“Can looks to be a bit of a utility player,” Hansen told This is Anfield.
“Mark Lawrenson and Stevie Nicol were two examples of the best utility players ever at Liverpool.”
Despite joining as a central midfielder Can has played much of the season as a defender in Rodgers back-three.
The 21-year-old has adapted well to becoming a defender, in fact Liverpool have not lost any of their last 10 Premier League games in which Can has started at the back.
Can has one goal and one assist in 29 appearances in all competitions this season for Liverpool.
