Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher tweeted that he thought Emre Can performed well against Chelsea in the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg.
Carragher was critical of Can in the first leg but admitted that the 21-year-old had shown a marked improvement this time around.
“Thought Emre Can did very well tonight. Good night!,” Carragher tweeted.
Can received a rating of 7.12 from Whoscored and was the third highest rated defender in the game. The 21-year-old made six successful tackles, one interception and two clearances. The former Bayer Leverkusen man played the full 120 minutes.
The game was marred in controversy as Chelsea striker Diego Costa stood on Can’s ankle in the 12th minute of the match. Referee Michael Oliver failed to spot the incident as his view was blocked by Reds midfielder Jordan Henderson.
The former Bayer Leverkusen player was born in Germany but can represent either his country of birth of Turkey at international level due to being of Turkish heritage.
