Liverpool legend and football pundit Jamie Carragher revealed that Emre Can has been a revelation for the Reds this season.
Carragher admitted that he feels Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has found Can’s strongest position as part of the back-three
“He is more effective coming from a deeper role than I have seen him starting in midfield,” Carragher said speaking on the Monday Night Show on Sky Sports 1.
“At this moment he has been a revelation.”
Can took Carragher’s vacant number 23 jersey when he joined the club in honour of the former Liverpool star defender.
The 21-year-old has started in Rodgers back-three for the last 11 league games despite being signed as a central midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen on a £9.75 million transfer in the summer.
Liverpool have not lost a Premier League game in which Can has started in defence this season.
The Reds have won nine and drawn two league games in which Can has started in defence.
The 21-year-old has now made 30 appearances for the Reds in all competitions this season.
