The 22-year-old says that the German manager is asking him to drive the team forward and help during attacking moves.
The role differs from Can’s midfield responsibilities while he was at Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen. While in the Bundesliga the Germany international played a defensive midfield role.
“[Klopp] wants a lot from me, he wants me to push the team forward and to help them and that is what I want to try,” Can told Sky Sports News.
Liverpool take on last placed Aston Villa next in the league on Sunday 14 February and Can is expected to start after being rested against West Ham.
Can started in the 2-2 draw against Sunderland last weekend and managed to complete the highest number of passes over the weekend.
The Red’s are currently in ninth place with 35 points in 25 games and can move up to seventh place with a win this weekend.
