Liverpool set to open talks with Arsenal target Ilkay Gundogan

Liverpool are set to make a move for Borussia Dortmund’s midfield playmaker Ilkay Gundogan according to Sport-Express.ru editor Artur Petrosyan.

Petrosyan took to his official Twitter account to state that the Red’s will attempt to sign the 25-year-old.

Gundogan has been linked with a move to Liverpool since the appointment of Jugen Klopp.

Arsenal and Manchester City are also interested in signing the midfield playmaker according to TalkSport.

The Germany international is tied into a contract at Dortmund until 2017 after signing a contract extension at the start of the season.

Gundogan has six assists and three goals in 32 appearances for Liverpool this season.

Dortmund sit in second place in the Bundesliga with 48 points in 21 games. The Bundesliga giants take on Porto in the UEFA Champions league this week.

Liverpool take on FC Augsburg in the Europa League tonight and host the Bundesliga side at Anfield next week.
