Liverpool star Emre Can is a 'world class player' says Jean Zimmer

Germany U21 international and 1. FC Kaiserslautern winger Jean Zimmer revealed that he was honoured to have been in the same side as Liverpool midfielder Emre Can in an interview with Vavel.

Zimmer stated: “It is a massive honour to ever be allowed to play for the national team, wear the eagle on the chest and to train together with world class players such as Emre Can and Marc-André ter Stegen.”

The Germany U21 side made it to the semi-finals of the U21 European Championships this summer before crashing out 5-0 against Portugal.

Can was also part of the Germany U21 side. The 21-year-old was born in Germany but can play for either his country of birth of Turkey at international level due to his family.

Zimmer is not the only person to describe Can as have world class ability. Liverpool boos Brendan Rodgers also described the young midfielder-come-defender using similar language.

“If you give Emre another couple of years, he could play in any team in world football,” Rodgers was quoted as saying in the Echo.

“That’s how highly I rate him.”

The Liverpool youngster has rejoined the rest of his teammates at the Melwood grounds for pre-season training.

The Reds kick-off their Premier League campaign against Stoke City at the Britannia stadium on the weekend and Can is expected to play in a midfield role.
