Emre Can was on the losing side as Germany suffered a 3-2 defeat against England at the Berlin Olympic stadium.
Can plays as a central midfielder for Liverpool under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp but former head coach Brendan Rodgers played him as a full-back.
Germany boss Joachim Low seems to agree with Rodgers placement of Can as he has also been deploying the young midfielder as a full-back.
Can performed well considering he was played out of position and worked hard defensively making the highest number of interceptions (4) for his team and he also posed a threat going forwards making the highest number of dribbles (3).
The Liverpool midfielder did pick up a yellow card on 39 minutes for a rash challenge but otherwise he put on a decent defensive performance.
Can is also likely to feature against Italy next but it remains to be seen if Low will stick with him in defence or move him into midfield where he feels more comfortable.
