Liverpool star Emre Can misses out against as Germany defeat Northern Ireland

Liverpool’s Emre Can was left on the bench once again during Germany’s 1-0 win over Northern Ireland in Euro 2016 yesterday evening.

The 22-year-old has been left out of the starting line-up for all three of Germany’s group games and hasn’t featured from the bench.

Can was once again left out as Joachim Low opted to field Tone Kroos and Sami Khedira in front of a back four consisting of Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, and Hector.

Besiktas’s Mario Gomez was also been included in Joachim Low’s team after starting on the bench for his sides opening two games. The powerful striker scored his sides only goal.

Arsenl’s Mesut Ozil started all three games and played the full 90 minutes. The 27-year-old provided an assist for Germany’s second goal against Ukraine.

Can is one of eight Germany born ethnic Turks in the tournament. Ozil is the other Germany international of Turkish origin while Turkey has six Germany born players.
