Liverpool star Emre Can plays minor role in Germany victory

Emre Can

Emre Can came on in the second half during Germany;s 4-1 victory over Italy in last nights international friendly.

The win was Germany’s first victory over Italy at the eighth attempt since a 2-0 victory in 1995.

Can received a rating of 6.0 from WhoScored for his performance on the night after coming off the bench in the 68th minute in place of Thomas Muller.

Joachim Löw deployed the 22-year-old in defence and has been reluctant to use Can in midfield. This in start contrast to Jurgen Klopp who regularly deploys Can in midfield.

Can is expected to return from international duty late this week. The 22-year-old started in Germany’s 3-2 defeat at the hands of rivals England over the weekend.

Germany were in ruthless form against Italy last night and were ahead after 24 minutes via a strike from Tony Kroos. Mario Gotze doubled the German’s lead shortly before half time.

Hector put Germany 3-0 ahead after 59 minutes while Ozil got on the score sheet in the 75th after converting from the penalty spot.
