Ilkay Gundogan scored the only goal in the second half to win Germany all three points. Emre Can played the full 90 minutes of the game at right back.

Can was named in the starting XI for Germany in the 3-1 victory over Poland in Euro 2016 Group D last week and earned his second international cap yesterday.

Can has featured in all four Liverpool Premier League games this season and is expected to play against Manchester United next at Old Trafford after the international break.

The 21-year-old had previously played for Germany at u21 level but had the option to represent Turkey at senior level as well.

Can makes up one of three players in the current Germany national team setup of Turkish origin. Arsenal star Mesut Özil and Borussia Dortmund midfielder İlkay Gündoğan are the other two.
