Can was named in the starting XI for Germany in the 3-1 victory over Poland in Euro 2016 Group D last week.

The Liverpool youngster started at right-back for Germany and will be hoping to earn his second cap when the World Cup winners take on Scotland in their next Euro 2016 game.

Can has featured in all four Liverpool Premier League games this season and is expected to play against Manchester United next at Old Trafford after the international break.

The 21-year-old had previously played for Germany at u21 level but had the option to represent Turkey at senior level as well.

Can makes up one of three players in the current Germany national team setup of Turkish origin.

Arsenal star Mesut Özil and Borussia Dortmund midfielder İlkay Gündoğan are the other two.

Turkey also has several players born in Germany in their national team setup with the most notable names being Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Beşiktaş winger Gökhan Töre.
