Liverpool midfielder James Milner could take over as the Premier League’s assist king if his impressive run of form continues.

The England international can now boast to have recorded more than three times as many assists in 2016 as Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Milner has 11 assists to his name since the beginning of the year.

Ozil is still ahead with 19 assists this season however, the Germany international has provided just three assists since December ended.

However, Ozil would have had more had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates.

The 27-year-old man star has also created the most chances in the league (122) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.

Arsenal take on Bournemouth in their next Premier League fixture while Liverpool prepare to host relegation battlers Newcastle United at Anfield this weekend.
