Liverpool & Tottenham target Arda Turan confirms receiving loan offers

Barcelona team news

Barcelona star Arda Turan revealed that he did receive loan offers over the summer transfer window but that the La Liga champions manager Luis Enrique rejected all bids.

“I had some serious loan offers but the boss wanted me to stay and train for four months to adapt to the Barcelona way,” Turan told Turkish newspaper Akşam and the Lassa – Barcelona sponsorship evening last week.

The Express have linked Liverpool and Tottenham as being interested in a loan move. United could still be in the running to bring in Turan on a temporary move if they do not qualify for the Champions League group stages.

Turan was initially expected to join Premier League giants Chelsea or Manchester United following his agent Ahmet Bulut revealing he was in talks with three English clubs.

“He intends to leave Spain this summer. It is his will to go out to play in the Premiership, that is where he would like to continue his career at this time,” Bulut told AS.

“His departure from Atletico is not easy because he has a clause of €41m. There are ongoing talks with three teams at the moment. I cannot say their names, but they are the best of England and European football.”

Turan eventually signed for Barcelona on a £24 million transfer from Atletico Madrid despite the Champions League title holders serving a FIFA transfer ban until January.

Despite being unable to play club football until the turn of the year the bearded winger is able to feature in international games and scored a vital goal in Turkey’s 3-0 win over the Netherlands in Euro 2016 Group A.

Barcelona take on Roma in their opening Champions League group stage game tonight in Italy.
