Liverpool & Tottenham target unlikely to leave La Liga champions

Arda Turan Luis Enrique

Arda Turan has revealed that Barcelona boss Luis Enrique does not want him to leave on loan despite the fact he cannot play a professiona game for the La Liga champions until January.

Barcelona signed Turan for £24 million on a five-year deal from Atletico Madrid last month but are unable to register the Turkish international due to the FIFA transfer ban which will run until the end of the calendar year.

“Luis Enrique wants me to stay at the club,” Turan told NTV Spor.

Enrique reportedly wants him to remain at the club and adapt to the teams system over the next few months but there is still a possibility that the Turkish international winger could leave on loan.

Barcelona president Jose Bartomeu however, recently stated that Turan could leave on a temporary move if Enrique wanted.

“This is a possibility but the final decision must be made by coach Luis Enrique and it must be a purely technical decision,” Bartomeu told RAC 1.

“It must be a team not playing in the Champions League.”

The 28-year-old midfielder was closely linked with a Premier League move before his Barcelona transfer but the possibility of a loan move has alerted Liverpool and Tottenham according to the Express.

Galatasaray have also targeted their former player but Turan ruled out the possibility of joining the Turkish champions.

Turan said: “Galatasaray should invest that money in the youth academy instead of me.”
