The Reds defender also praised Jordon Ibe for his performance. Ibe won Liverpool the penalty on 85 minutes and completed a total of 10 successful dribbles.

“It was a good result. Jordon Ibe did really well – his first game against Everton was great and he has continued that performance, he played really well,” he added.

Skrtel also admitted that Beşiktaş were a tough team to beat and underlined the importance getting the victory.

“We knew before the game they had a good team, they are leading the league in Turkey, so we knew it wouldn’t be easy. The main thing was to get a result and we got it in the end,” Skrtel said.

Skrtel did not complete any tackles or interceptions against Beşiktaş but did make eight clearances and blocked three shots.

The 30-year-old defender was given a rating of 7.21 by Whoscored.
