Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal revealed that Robin Van Persie made a good choice in his decision to join Fenerbahçe.

Van Persie joined the Yellow Canaries on a three-year deal in-front of 15,000 fans at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium on Tuesday 14 July.

“I think he did a very good choice,” Van Gaal was quoted as saying by the Independent.

“When I was (Holland) coach, I watched Fenerbahce because of (Dirk) Kuyt and I was always received in a very warm way.”

The 31-year-old striker moved to United in 2012 and won the season in his first season at the club.

The Netherlands international scored had a conversion rate of 22 percent at United and scored a total of 48 goals for the club.

Van Persie scored a total of 144 goals ın 280 Premier League games which works out at 0.51 goals per-game – fourth best Premiership record for strikers that have played over 100 games in the league.
