Man Utd join Turkish giants in race to sigh Barcelona defender

Manchester United have joined the Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray in the race to sign Dani Alves from Barcelona.

The Sun newspaper state that Man Utd are interested in the for Alves however, Juventus are currently leading the race for the Brazil international.

The Spanish radio station Cadena Cope has reported that the Galatasaray are also in the race to sign Alves. The radio station also revealed that Galatasaray were interested in signing Alves at the beginning of the season but were unable to agree personal terms with the 33-year-old.

Juventus boss Giuseppe Marotta is however very optimistic’ Alves will join from Barcelona as negotiations are ‘on the right track’.

“I can confirm that negotiations with Dani Alves are on the right track – we are satisfied. We are very optimistic,” Marotta told Sky Italia.

Galatasaray recently signed Martin Linnes at right-back and are currently experiencing financial difficulties which could make a move for Alves unlikely.

Alves has provided eight assists and scored on goal in 48 appearances for Barcelona this season.
