Man Utd & Man City target has not agreed new deal

Besiktas board member Erdal Torunoğulları has denied reports that Mario Gomez will leave at the end of the season.

Gomez was reported to have signed a deal with a Premier League side according to reports from Turkey.

Torunoğulları was quoted by Aksam as saying: “There is no truth to the transfer rumours, we do not want to sell him nd our only thought right now is winning the league.”

Gomez has been in great form for Besiktas scoring 21 goals for the league leaders and recently earned himself a recall to the Germany national team.

The powerful striker scored in the 3-2 defeat against England at Berlin but did not start the following game in the 4-1 win over Italy.

The Sabah newspaper claim that Manchester City have held talks with Gomez but they could face competition from Manchester United who have also expressed an interest in the striker according to Telegraph and FoxSport last month.

Gomez joined Besiktas on a two-year loan from Fiorentina over the summer transfer window with a buy-out clause option.

The Black Eagles are yet to activate the release clause of the in form striker but are expected to over the summer.
