Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger missed training today which fuelled speculation that he could be headed for a summer exit.

The Mirror report that the experienced midfielder did not show up for training today and that head coach Jose Mourinho could end up showing him the door.

The 31-year-old made just 13 Premier League appearances last season after picking up a string of injuries.

Mourinho is not reported to have plans for the experienced midfielder next season and he could be pushed further down the pecking order if Paul Pogba is signed over the summer.

The recent developments could make Besiktas’ efforts to sign the Germany international easier.

The Black Eagles have been preparing a move for the World Cup winner in an attempt to bolster their midfielder with Champions League looming according to the Milliyet newspaper.

Besiktas won the league title last season booking a place in the Champions League group stage in the process.
