Besiktas star Mario Gomez will stay at the club next season according to club board-member Metin Albayrak.

The Germany international has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe with Manchester United reportedly to be keen on adding him to their ranks over the summer according to Telegraph and FoxSport.

Gomez is in great form for the Istanbul giants having scored 23 times this season and matching the all time record for goals scored in a league campaign which stands at 21 – equaling Ilhan Mansiz.

“We are going to hold talks with Mario before Euro 2016 and he will be a Besiktas player before the tournament,” Albayrak said at the Vodafone Arena inauguration ceremony.

The powerful striker joined the Black Eagles on a two-year loan from Fiorentina over the summer and has hit the ground running at his new club.

Gomez also earned himself a recall to the Germany national team and scored his first international goal since 2012 against England in a friendly last month.

Besiktas are currently first in the Turkish Super League six points clear of second placed Fenerbahce.
