Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan disappoints during Dortmund cup final defeat

Ilkay Gündoğan played the full 90 minutes in Borussia Dortmund’s DFB-Pokal cup final defeat to Wolfsburg.

Dortmund looked to be on course for victory after Aubameyang’s goal after just five minutes however, three goals from Gustavo, de Bruyne and Bas Dost put Wolfsburg ahead going into the break.

The deep-lying playmaker received a rating of 5.91 from Who Scored. Gündoğan made 56 passes and maintained a passing accuracy of 82.1%.

The 24-year-old failed to make a single key pass nor did he make any interceptions or clearances.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been closely linked with the Germany international over the past month.

Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim Watzke has confirmed that Gündoğan will leave the club at the end of the season.

“Gündoğan will be leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer, that is a fact. I am very confident we will see various clubs coming in for him,” Watzke told SportBild.

According to Todomercadoweb, Gündoğan’s next destination will be announced following todays final.

Gündoğan has finished the season with five assists and three goals in 33 appearances in all competitions.
