Fenerbahçe winger Lazar Markovic has blamed being played out of position for his failure to settle in at Liverpool last season.

Markovic joined Fenerbahçe on a one-year loan over the summer transfer period despite joining the Reds on a £20 million transfer from Benfica last season.

The Serbian intentional told Fanatik: “I was not able to prove myself at Liverpool as I was played out of position but thank goodness that is not the case at Fenerbahçe.

“I am played in position here and have managed to get myself into the first team it is absolutely fantastic to play regularly and feel valued.”

The 21-year-old started against Ajax in the 1-0 victory over the Dutch giants in the Europa League midweek and is expected to feature against Galatasaray in the Intercontinental derby.

Markovic has already established himself as a first team regular and is almost certain to start against rivals Galatasaray following injury to former Manchester United winger Luis Nani.

The Yellow Canaries are currently third on goal difference to second placed Galatasaray and second in their Europa League group.
