Mesut Ozil – ‘Assists make me happy’ [divider]

Arsenal star Mesut Özil has revealed that he prefers providing assists over scoring goals.

“It is more important for me to create goals for others than to score them for myself,” Özil told German newspaper Express.

“I don’t need to score goals to be happy. Assists are what make me happy.”

Arsenal have also won in every league game the World Cup winner has provided an assist this season.

Özil has the third best minutes per assist rate in Premier League history according to Opta.

The 26-year-old has a total of four goals and seven assists in all competitions for Arsenal this season.

Last season the World Cup winner provided 14 assists in total and prior to his move to North London he had 81 assists in all competitions for Real Madrid.

The World Cup winner has a total Özil has 157 assists, 69 goals in 399 games.

Özil is expected to start against Newcastle United at St James Park today.
