Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has shed light on the extent of Mesut Ozil’s latest injury.

The 27-year-old sat out of Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City due to a hip injury sustained during training.

“He has a hip problem from yesterdays training,” Wenger told SkySports when asked why Ozil was missing from the squad sheet.

When asked about the extent of the injury the Arsenal manager said, “I don’t think so, its a question of days. He was unable to walk properly.”

It is unknown whether Ozil will be fit in time for the Gunners’ clash with Aston Villa next weekend. The 27-year-old is also at risk at missing preparations for the European championships in France this summer.

Ozil has recorded 18 assists and with two games to go still has a chance of equalling the Premier League record of 20 set by Thierry Henry.

The 27-year-old has created the most chances in the league (137) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.
