Arsenal transfer news Mesut Ozil Liverpool v Arsenal Arsenal line up Everton ace Ross Barkley as Mesut Ozil replacement Ross Barkley

Mesut Ozil has stated that he is ‘very happy’ at Arsenal despite the Gunners disappointing season.

The 27-year-old has also been linked with a move away from north London to Real Madrid in recent weeks.

“I am under contract with Arsenal and I am very happy to be here now,” Ozil told French magazine Surface (via Standard).

“I do not think about the future, I just think my current situation. I have goals for Arsenal. In the future you can never know in football.”

The 27-year-old did of course play for Real Madrid before making the switch to London.

Ozil has won two FA Cup trophies at Arsenal but has yet to win the Premier League. The Germany international of Turkish origin will not be able to add to his silverware collection this season.

The former Real Madrid man has recorded 18 assists and with two games to go this season and still has a chance of equalling the Premier League record of 20 set by Thierry Henry.

Ozil is Arsenal’s most expensive signing however, following a disappointing end to the season the 27-year-old is seeking assurances that the squad will be strengthened in the summer.

Arsenal take on Manchester City this weekend in the Premier League as they look to secure a third place finish.
