Mesut Ozil is a leader says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil may not immediately strike you as a leader but according to head coach Arsene Wenger he has a big influence on the team.

Ozil’s languid playing style and laid back attitude may not give him the appearance of a natural leader but he is demanding of his teammates and leads on as well as off the pitch.

“He’s has a big influence. He’s not an extrovert, as you know. But you don’t win by coincidence and he has won in his career. He’s demanding from his partners,” Wenger told the official Arsenal website.

There is no denying Ozil is a winner. The Germany international of Turkish origin already has a World Cup trophy under his belt and had won the FA Cup for two years running with Arsenal.

Ozil could however, be about to experience a season without winning any silverware considering the Gunners are out the FA Cup, Champions League and 11 points behind league leaders Leicester City.

Then again he may just go ahead and win the European Championship title in France with Germany this summer.
