Mesut Ozil has been surprisingly dethroned as Arsenal’s assist king in 2016.

The 27-year-old gained a reputation for his assists after an impressive start to last season. However, the ‘creative well’ seems to have dried up in 2016 as the Germany international has created just three goals for Arsenal since the turn of the year.

Ozil is also yet to record an assist for the north London based club this season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi has racked up five assists in 2016. The 20-year-old has provided more assists in 2016 than any other Gunners player, with three coming in three games this term.

Ozil racked up 19 assists last season in the Premier League. The 27-year-old was just one assist off matching the all time record of 20 set by Thierry Henry.

The 27-year-old was rested for Tuesday nights encounter with Nottingham Forrest but is expected to return to the starting line-up this weekend when Arsenal host Hull City in the Premier League.
