Mesut Ozil plays staring role in Arsenal win over Aston Villa

Mesut Özil played a staying role during Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League earlier today.

The former Real Madrid man provided his 13th assist of the season and received a rating of 7.5 from WhoScored.

Olivier Giroud scored the North London based sides opening goal in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa. Özil set-up Aaron Ramsey’s strike which doubled his sides lead.

The 27-year-old provided two key passes, made two successful dribbles and maintained a passing accuracy of 88%.

Özil was the games third highest rated player capping off a fantastic week for the Germany international.

Arsenal defeated Olympiacos during the week to book a place in the UEFA Champions League last 16.

Özil is has won the Arsenal Vitality Player of the Month award for the past two consecutive months and has 12 assist in 14 Premier League games this season.

Arsenal take on last season’s runners up Manchester City next week in the Premier League.
