Gunners boss Arsene Wenger later revealed that Özil had permission to make the trip and that he did inform the club he would be celebrating a friends birthday.
Özil has taken to social media to let his followers know he has been out on the town again, however, this time with his friends at a restaurant.
The 26-year-old shared an image of himself on Instagram wearing blue Adidas Superstar trainers, matching waistcoat alongside the caption, “M1Ö#dinner#friends#gn8.”
Özil is expected to return to the Arsenal starting lineup for the Premier League clash against Liverpool on Saturday after missing the Newcastle game.
The Gunners are currently third in the league, just one point behind second placed Manchester City.
Özil has come under criticism for his performances this season but he was recently found to be the second best performing attacking midfielder in Europe in 2015 according to the CIES Football Observatory’s latest performance rankings.
The World Cup winner has four goals and seven assists in all competitions for Arsenal this season.
