Arsenal star Mesut Özil has underlined that he has never played in a league as physical as the Premier League.

“There is much more of a physical test here than there is in Spain or in the Bundesliga – I constantly have bruises, but that makes me harder. I feel physically better than ever,” Özil was quoted as saying in the Guardian.

“I’m feeling very positive. I’m a world champion and I play at a top club in the Premier League.”

Özil was criticised for lacking the strength and fitness to play Premier League football when he arrived from Real Madrid on a record £42.5 million move.

The 26-year-old spent three months out injured after sustaining a blow to his knee in October.

The World Cup winner worked on his fitness and strength during his time out, returning with an extra kilogram of muscle mass.

Özil has been praised for his work rate since returning from injury and is currently one of the highest ranking players in terms of distance covered in the Arsenal team.

The attacking midfielder has also provided the highest number of assists on his team following his return from injury.
