Mesut Ozil wants out because he believes Arsenal cannot challenge for the Champions League

Mesut Ozil want to leave Arsenal due to his belief that the Gunners’ cannot challenge for the Champions League in the near future, according to Marca.

The Spanish daily sports newspaper goes onto stated that the 27-year-old is unimpressed by the current situation at Arsenal and that Barcelona are interested in his services.

Arsenal have never won the Champions league. The north London based side came close to winning the Champions League in the 2015-16 season but were defeated in the final by Barcelona.

The Gunners’ host Barcelona at the Emeritus Stadium on Febuary 24 at 19:45. The La Liga giants are top of the Spanish league and are unbeaten in 28 games.

Ozil has been in impressive form this season with six goals in all competitions as well as 16 assists in the Premier League.

Arsenal are currently joint second in the Premier League with rivals Tottenham. The London based side is five points behind leaders Leicester City.
