Mesut Özil has stated that he aims to score more goals than in his last two seasons.

The 26-year-old is known for his assist rate but only managed to scored five goals in 32 appearances for the Gunners last season.

“I want to score more goals than in the last two seasons and that’s my aim for this season,” Özil was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

Ozil had 27 goals in 159 games for Real Madrid and 16 goals in 108 matches for Werder Bremen.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger recently revealed that he wants more goals from the Germany international this season.

“What I told you is what I want from him more is a few more goals this season. For the rest of the build-up in the game he was magnificent,” Wenger was quoted as saying on the official Arsenal website.

Özil played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday evening.

The 26-year-old playmaker made the joint highest amount of key-passes in the game along with Alexis Sanchez and  Roberto Firmino. Özil also made the highest number of successful dribbles (3).

Arsenal have gotten off to a slow start in the Premier League having just won one of their first three games. The Gunners sit in ninth place with four points.
