Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil has wished Barcelona star Arda Turan the best of luck ahead of the Champions League Last 16 clash set to be played between the two sides in February.

Özil believes that the Gunners can progress to the quarter-finals and that they have nothing to fear.

“I wish Arda Turan the best of luck over the two legs and may the best team win,” Özil told Fanatik.

“We are capable of beating any team and are under no illusions that this will be a tough game but anybody that knows me knows I love a big game.”

The Gunners did manage to beat Bayern Munich at the Emirates in the Champions League group stages.

Turan who joined Barcelona over the summer had to wait six-months to make his debut yesterday against Espanyol due to the FIFA transfer ban that had been in place.

The bearded winger became the third Turk to play for Barcelona when he joined from Atletico Madrid but he will miss the first-leg against Arsenal due to still serving a suspension from last season when he was sent off against Real Madrid in the same competition.

Özil was born in Germany but was eligible to also represent Turkey at international level due to being an ethnic Turk.

The World Cup winner is fluent in Turkish and regularly travels back to the country where he is popular with the local media.
