Newcastle United have completed the signing of Seydou Doumbia from Roma on-loan until the end of the season.

The Magpies confirmed the deal on their official Twitter account and website.

The transfer could however, still fall through as Newcastle United will require Doumbia’s visa to be approved before the deal can be finalised.

Doumbia has however, already been given his Newcastle shirt and the club have shared pictures of the Ivory Coast international in his new team colours.

Eurosport reported that Fenerbahce had also been closely linked with Doumbia following reports that manager Vitor Pereira requested a new striker from the board.

The Turkish Super League leaders currently have two first choice strikers in Robin van Persie and Fernandao. Moussa Sow and Dirk Kuyt left over the summer while Emmanuel Emenike has joined West Ham on loan until the end of the season leaving the Yellow Canaries lacking depth up-front.
