Uruguayan international Diego Lugano could be on his way back to the Istanbul giants

Diego Lugano left to a heroes farewell last summer as he departed from Fenerbahçe to French club Paris Saint-Germain F.C. The Uruguayan international was part of the pre-season exodus of players who fled the club following the turmoil created by the ongoing match fixing probe.

The 31 year old center back has struggled to come to terms with going from being a key first team player and club legend to a back up rotation player. Lugano has hardly featured for PSG this season, only playing in a total of 12 Ligue 1 games.

Turkish football newspaper, 'Fanatik', reported that Lugano had said: "It all started well, however, I soon grew unhappy. I regret leaving Fenerbahçe and wish to return to the club next season", regarding his time at PSG.

Lugano joined PSG for €3 million on a contract which runs until 2014 after spending 5 seasons with the Istanbul giants. Fenerbahçe are yet to make an official statement regarding a return for the experienced defender.
